Corner Stone Lodge #99 News Letter
From the East
Brothers, I want to take a moment and thank you for giving me this opportunity and electing me as Master for 2017. It is not a position that I take very lightly and I am very honored to be in the East.
Over the past two years I have been reading, planning and talking to a vast majority of Masons from not only our Lodge, but from other Lodges in our area and from across this Great Nation of ours. My goal is to have
Cornerstone Lodge 99 become the cornerstone for our area and be a shining example of Freemasonry and
what it does to make our world a better place, for everyone. We need to encourage our communities to
participate and want to come out and support our cause. We need to show the general public what it means
to be a Freemason and why we are so proud to be one. The more exposure the better. I have compiled a list
of ideas that I would like to see put into motion this year to help accomplish these goals and to also get families engaged in the activities. I would also like for the Lodge to be able to take a trip to Washington D.C. together for fellowship and Masonic education. We are invited to attend Cherrydale Lodge in Arlington, VA. and would be a once in a lifetime experience.
This year also marks the 300th Anniversary of the U.G.L.E. The WDAY Honor Flight is scheduled for May and I think we should try a pancake feed and spaghetti supper before then to raise funds. I also think that a couple of raffles should be in order and some family events scheduled. It is up to each and every one of us, as Masons, to ensure the Lodge’s success and to help each other be successful in all of our stations in life. I look forward to everyone’s input and participation to ensure a successful 2017 for Cornerstone Lodge 99.

From the West
Greetings Brothers,
I hope that each of you had a Merry Christmas and you are ready for the new year. 2017 has welcomed us with plenty of frigid weather. Two of the things I have heard my friends say this winter is “Minus 30 degrees makes good ice” and “I think that it is going to warm up to zero this weekend”.
Thank you to the members of Cornerstone Lodge for the privilege of serving you as Senior Warden in 2017. As I learn more about the operation of the lodge the more impressed I become with our founders. I have been studying the opening and closing ceremonies of the lodge and I want to quote the Masonic Manual of MN, page 5; “These ceremonies are derived from the constitution, the General Regulations, Masonic usages and customs, and the decisions of the Board of Custodians… To conduct these ceremonies with propriety
ought to be the peculiar study of every Mason, especially of those who have the honor to rule in our assemblies. To persons who are thus dignified, every eye is naturally directed for the propriety
of conduct and behavior; and from them other brethren are less informed will naturally expect to derive an example worthy of imitation”. My plan for this year is to do as the opening ceremonies directs, assist the Worshipful Master Russel Wolf Jr in any way I can.
Last year I attended the Grand Lodge of MN Annual Communication in Bloomington. This was my first time attending Grand Lodge. This was a great experience for me. This year Grand Lodge is April 6-9, 2017 at the River Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud, MN. I plan to attend, and want to encourage others who are able to join us. Let us each be thankful for our many blessings and see you in lodge.
Fraternally, SW Arlyn Hustad

With the election and installation of officers for 2017 I am honored to be of service as your junior warden. I am also proud to be a brother of Corner Stone Lodge. The transition into our new positions went very well. Everyone has been patient and willing to answer any questions. I am looking forward to attending Grand Lodge in April, as this will be my first . I would also like to visit other lodges in the surrounding area over the next few months.
My wife and I recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary this last August . We plan to continue the celebration at the end of February with a week of rest and relaxation and a short break from winter in Mexico. Will hopefully bring some warm weather back with us. No promises... after all this is Minnesota.
